About Sadie!

Sadie Abernathy is a Minnesota-bred, Los Angeles–based filmmaker, producer, and editor working across documentary and narrative film, with a focus on identity, power, and character-driven storytelling. She is an Associate Producer and Assistant Editor on Jane Elliott Against the World, a feature documentary premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, directed by Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Judd Ehrlich.
Sadie is a creator, producer, and editor of We Liked Your Vibe, an award-winning short that received Best LGBTQ+ Short honors from the Cannes World Film Festival, Venice Shorts, and Lady Filmmakers Film Festival, and screened at Atlanta Horrorfest. The film marks her first fully self-produced project and reflects her interest in intimacy, image culture, and the emotional fallout of modern dating, developed within a female-first, filmmaker-forward production model.
She has also served as Associate Producer and Assistant Editor on the FOUND Magazine docuseries, executive produced by Mark and Jay Duplass, collaborating closely with post-production teams to relaunch and shape the series’ editorial direction.
Sadie is currently producing multiple projects in development, including The Pigeon, a documentary–narrative hybrid directed by Emil Weinstein (A League of Their Own, The L Word: Generation Q) and Asher Levinthal (Realm of Satan, Sundance 2024), and shot by Robert Kolodny (Procession, The Featherweight). Her development work spans grant writing, deck and reel creation, workshops, and union-compliant production, with an eye toward shepherding ambitious, talent-driven projects from early conception through post.
A Vassar College graduate with a B.A. in Film, Sadie brings a producer’s rigor and an editor’s sensibility to every project she touches. She is drawn to bold collaborators, team-driven work, and stories that live at the intersection of culture, performance, and personal risk.
